This Sunday, the students at Youth Ignition Live will be wrapping up our series "Dangerous People" by looking at the faith of Peter, an early Jesus Follower. Peter saw first-hand miracles while walking around with Jesus.
In Matthew 14, we read how Peter boldly obeyed Jesus invitation' to climb out of the boat in the middle of a storm...and walk on water. Peter was willing to take an audacious step of faith and that step onto the waves transformed him from an innocent bystander into a dangerous participant. God wants us to know and see Him and His power first-hand. We experience this by taking audacious steps of faith.
Faith is belief that leads to action. Peter knew that Jesus was the long-promised Lord and Savior, but it was his faith that motivated him to climb out of the boat and trust his whole life to Jesus' promise. Many of our young people already believe that Jesus is their Savior and they have chosen to follow him as Lord. Our focus this week is to challenge tht 5th - 8th graders of Relevant to put thier faith into action, by obeying God even when it seems impossible.
Here are some questions you could use to fuel conversation with your young person this week:
Why do you think only Peter left the boat and walked on water? Why didn't the others join him?
How would define faith in your every-day life?
Why is it important to focus our attention on Jesus when we are in the middle of a rough situation...or when we take audacious steps of faith?
What is one action that you believe God is asking you to take right now? Are you willing to obey, or do you need extra courage from Jesus?
Thank you for you prayers for the students, our youth ministry and Relevant Church as a whole! See you Sunday.
